Nudging Sustainability at Ferrero: A Trade Marketer's Journey
Meet Alice, one of our 2024 Ferrero Nudge participants whose decision to join the Nudge Global Impact Challenge was driven by her desire for personal and professional growth. Seeing the program as a unique platform to exchange ideas and gain valuable insights from individuals working in similar contexts, Alice was keen to apply her learning to enhance the quality and impact of her work.
Turning Trash into Treasure
My project revolves around recovering Ferrero's organic waste and transforming it into organic plastic. The aim is to create checkout materials for trade marketing and other new objects while promoting a circular economy by reducing the use of conventional plastics. By leveraging our organic waste to produce materials that can be utilised within Ferrero, we can make our operations more sustainable.
Hands-on Practicality
The emphasis on practical experience was a pleasant surprise and proved to be highly rewarding. The hands-on approach was both challenging and enlightening. It has also taught me new ways to organize and implement ideas, which I find highly relevant to my daily tasks in trade marketing. I’ve also learned methodologies, such as how to make ideas concrete and actionable, that will be instrumental in developing and concluding projects more effectively.
“One of the most valuable takeaways from the Nudge program for me has been the practical approach to project implementation. Tools like the “Nudge Canvas” have been instrumental in structuring and refining my initiatives, ensuring they are both feasible and impactful.”
A Matter of Perspective
The program significantly broadened my view on global sustainability challenges. Engaging with participants from various backgrounds made me more aware of broader aspects for issues like waste management and water consumption, which I hadn't really considered in my daily life. It has inspired me to think more critically about sustainability in a personal as well as a professional context.
My experience in three words:
Thinking outside the box

Final Advice for Prospective Participants
My key piece of advice would be to approach the program with a focus on concrete outcomes. Especially in a large organization like Ferrero, it is crucial to ensure that your project and impact plan are both practical and capable of generating tangible value.
