Nudging Sustainability at Ferrero: A Media Manager perspective

Learning about Eco-friendly Packaging

From reducing carbon footprints to minimizing waste, companies like Ferrero are increasingly prioritizing sustainability, and packaging plays a pivotal role. In developing my project, which focused on sustainable packaging and processes, I had the opportunity to collaborate with the marketing director of a top company in our industry. This not only gave me a valuable perspective on how they approach sustainability in their packaging, it also allowed me to see Ferrero’s progress in context,and how we can potentially continue to evolve.

An End-to-end Effort

Working on a topic so focused on sustainability, from the beginning to the end of the production process, was a very valuable experience. I learned about the importance of considering sustainability not only in factories or production processes but also in the final product. This perspective made me aware of the need to provide consumers with sustainable options, ensuring that sustainability reaches all the way to the last step of the value chain. Back in 2016, this helped me develop a deeper understanding of how we could evolve at Ferrero in terms of global responsibility and sustainability, for me especially in the aspect of packaging.

“I had the opportunity to meet people from companies all over the world and this diversity was very enriching. Seeing how they addressed the issue of sustainability in their respective contexts provided me with a valuable global perspective and inspired me to think about how we can improve and advance at Ferrero.”

Inspirational connections

I now fully understand why we are partnering with Nudge, as the programme has shown Ferrero’s strong commitment to advancing and addressing corporate responsibility and global impact issues. I was particularly struck by meeting participants from a Dutch renewable energy company whose advanced vision of corporate responsibility and sustainability contrasted strongly with some of the other participants’ perspectives. This clash between how one company was so advanced in sustainability and how others had so much to do was a revealing challenge. It made me feel proud of Ferrero, and very motivated.

Final Thoughts for Prospective Participants

I would definitely recommend other people to participate in Nudge for the experience itself. Beyond the learning opportunity offered by the programme and its courses, the value lies in seeing how other companies work and meeting people from different countries. It is also an excellent occasion for establishing relationships and exchanging ideas and perspectives with professionals from various industries and cultures. Participating in Nudge makes you feel like a true ambassador for Ferrero and I could not be prouder.
